The Gluteus Medius is a broad muscle that covers the outside of the upper pelvis. It acts as a hip stabilizer and keeps the hips balanced with standing or walking

Common Symptoms

  • Pain on the outside of the hip
  • Pain in the buttocks
  • Swelling or difficulty sitting
  • Decreased range of motion in the hips
  • Pain when rotating hip
  • Lower-back pain

Common Causes

  • Aging
  • Injury or trauma
  • Poor flexibility and sudden bursts of activity
