Posterior Deltoid
Where are the trigger points?
The primary function of the posterior deltoid is extension, rotation, and moving the arm outwards like a pulling motion.
Common Symptoms
- Pain in the muscle at the front of the shoulder
- Bruising, swelling, and loss of mobility in the muscle
- Pain in the muscle when moving the arm out and upwards
Common Causes
- Improper stretching before exercise
- Office work when your keyboard is incorrectly positioned causing excessive strain on your shoulders
- Overusing the muscle without enough rest between uses
- Baseball, skiing, weightlifting, & swimming
